This is a simpler lamp. The body is made from 8 wedges of cherry or walnut with maple accent veneers between. This is turned to the concave shape and then tenoned into the base and cap turnings. The white oak version shows this lamps arts and crafts roots. It is paired with the traditional amber mica shade. The conical shade is recommended with this lamp. Panels can either be light (alkyd) or amber (shellac) mica. Also available are birdseye veneer panels. Wood veneers are laminated with fiberglass cloth using clear epoxy resin for stability and to inhibit cracking. A handmade Lokta Bark paper shade is shown on the second and fourth pieces. These shades are available in a number of patterns and can be substituted on any lamp. Lamps and shades are fine sanded, oiled to bring out the figure, and finished in catalyzed lacquer for a durable finish.
