This is one of a pair of sideboards installed in a formal dining room. The wood and finish were to match the existing dining table and chairs made of ash and finished in a white pigmented stain. The carving on the drawer front is a manufactured onlay in maple. The egg-and-dart motif on the baseboard was carved. Both were given a layer of sterling silver leaf. Then the pieces were finished in a catalyzed varnish. The top is granite. The drawers were lined with silver cloth to keep serving ware from tarnishing.
